1. What do I need to smith items on runescape?
The basic smithing item you require is a hammer. In addition, you will need to have the appropriate smithing level and a bar of your choice to be able to smith items. All items will take between 1 - 3 bars when smithed. Some items are member only and can only be smithed on member servers.
2. Why can't I smith Claws on runescape?
You will need to have completed the Death Plateau quest, which is a member quest, before you can smith Claws.
3. I can't smith dart tips but I have a high enough smithing level?
Darts are a members only item and to be able to smith them you must have completed the
Tourist Trap quest.
4. Can I smith Dragon or Black items?
No. The only materials that you can smith items from in runescape are bronze, iron, steel, gold, mithril, adamantite and runite. Other items may be bought from players, from shops or dropped by monsters.
5. Where is a good place to smelt my ores?
Any furnace that is close to a bank is good for smelting your ores. Non-members may choose either Falador or Al-kharid while members have an additional choice of Ardougne or Port Phasmatys.
6. How do I stop my iron ore from being impure?
If you are a non-member of runescape then there is nothing you can do to prevent your iron ore from being impure if you are using a furnace. The rate of impurity is approx 50%.
Non-members can cast superheat on their iron ore but this will require a nature
rune for each iron ore while members can simply equip themselves with a ring of
forging which will prevent 140 iron ores from being impure. My advice is to save
your iron ore and make steel bars to make higher profits if you are not a member.
7. Is there any guide to using smithing in runescape?
Using smithing in runescape does not need to follow a specific training method, although generally for free to play players, they should avoid smelting iron and concentrate on making steel bars. They can sell the steel bars and buy iron bars if they wish as smelting the iron ore on free servers will lead to 50% impurity and a lot of wasted effort.
In addition, when making any items and wanting to train quickly, players can make platebodies as 5 bars are used at a time. All bars that get smithed will give the same amount of experience per bar and only members will be able to make the more profitable items. In addition to this, players can check this list of smithing tips.
